Taking emergency contraception pills has over the years proven to be one of the most effective ways of preventing pregnancy after sexual intercourse.
A a matter of fact, you have probably been told or heard these contraceptive pills are effective when taken within five days after intercourse which is true, but to be on a safer side, it is advisable to take them immediately after an act of unprotected intercourse.
Try as much as possible to take the pills at most 72 hours after engaging in the act as contraception pills are more effective the sooner they are used after the act of unprotected intercourse.
Although WHO has said that emergency contraception pills can prevent up to over 95% of pregnancies when taken within five days after intercourse, you should keep in mind that pregnancy can still occur as it does not completely prevent pregnancy.
